Carry a complete desktop environment on a USB stick with JUDE

J.U.D.E. (Jontys Universal Desktop Environment) is a complete desktop environment on a USB stick. J.U.D.E. is a Windows environment that has all the applications you will need for day to day computer use. It's a complete operating system on it's own that you can carry along with you on a stick. You can boot a PC right from the USB stick installed with JUDE and load a complete Windows environment for you to work on. This makes it a truly portable desktop environment as you can use on any PC.

J.U.D.E. is based on Windows PE 2.0 which is built on the Windows Vista Kernel. So most standard Windows apps will run but not ones which depend on the .NET Framework or DirectX etc.

How to install J.U.D.E.

1. At first you need to install the Windows AIK (Windows Automated Installation Kit) from Microsoft. Download Windows AIK.
2. Install Windows AIK followed by J.U.D.E.
3. Launch the Jude Wizard and follow the steps in the Wizard to build a bootable Windows USB Stick. It is desired that you use a USB stick that has a capacity of atleast 512 MB.

J.U.D.E. comes with Open Office, GIMP, Thunderbird, Firefox, GAIM (Instant Messenger) and many others. J.U.D.E. also allows you to add your own applications to the stick.
