Is that a website or a desktop?

>
The website that I'm going to share with you today is a beauty. It looks like an exact Windows desktop. No, this isn't one of those Web 2.0 sites that makes heavy use of Flash and Ajax tricks to resemble a desktop. This site is a simple personal website and could very well be the first website that was made to look like a desktop, for it was made way back in 2001. The concept of designing websites that resembles a desktop, those web operating system, wasn't there then and wouldn't be there for another 2 - 3 years.

So, this site that I'm talking about has a specialty. It doesn't use Flash nor Ajax nor ActiveX nor Java Applet. This site was designed using pure DHTML, JavaScript and CSS. Yet, the results are so damned good. It mimics the Windows 2000 desktop so good, that you can't tell apart from a real one. The site is designed by one Omar Al Zabir and it's his personal website. Wait! Don't click on the link now, for the browser you are using might not work with that site. It is an old site and works with only Internet Explorer, what a pity! Neither Firefox nor Opera was there when this site was developed and the owner perhaps hasn't bothered to update his site to add support for the newer browsers. To enjoy this site you have to use IE, disable pop-up blocker, disable the status bar of IE and view it full screen (Press F11)

Those screenshots were of that site. It has a desktop with the exact icons of Windows 2000 and also a Start Menu which gives access to various parts of the website. Each section of this site opens in an Explorer look-alike window with scroll bars and working minimize and maximize buttons. Visit and enjoy this site.
