Often we take screenshots in order to show a particular area on the screen. For bloggers like me who blog about computers and softwares, taking screenshots become second nature. In order to highlight the area where we want to draw the readers attention, we crop the image or add arrows, circles etc in an image editing tool. All these hassles can be avoided by using Snippy.
Snippy allows you take a screen shot of only that area of the screen in which we are interested. Click on the Snippy icon – mouse cursor changes to a pen – mark an area of the screen – the marked area is automatically converted into an image and copied to your clipboard.

Select an area with the mouse

Selected area becomes a screenshot
If you want to select a rectangular area, just hold down the Shift key while dragging. You can configure some things like the color of the border and so on by right-clicking on the Snippy icon in the taskbar. One of the things you can do here is to set a keyboard hotkey for activating the capture mode. Snippy also supports multiple monitors. If you have a dual-monitor set up, you can use Snippy to grab images off either or both monitors.
There is no install program. Snippy is a very small program; just 84 KB. Simply save the Snippy executable in some convenient location on your hard-drive. If you want Snippy to start up automatically when you turn on your computer just add a shortcut to your Startup folder.
