Remember Postbox, the Mozilla based email client? If you tried it and liked it but didn’t keep it because of lack of addons, well now you can. The developers announced in their recent blog post, that the latest version of Postbox now it supports addons. It had to, after all it’s based on the same source code as Thunderbird.
The addons are the same Thunderbird based XPI addons, but you can’t go and install any addons you like just now. The developers have released a list of compatible addons that currently work with the email client. There are a few useful ones like:
- MozBackup (back-ups messages)
- ReminderFox (displays and manages lists of date-based reminders and ToDos)
- Nostalgy (adds keyboard shortcuts and auto complete)
More addons are expected to be added in the future.
Apart from addons, Postbox also added a few additional features. It can now fetch profile pictures from your Postbox address book, Mac OS X address book, Facebook, and the people you follow on Twitter. The new beta release also got localized dictionaries, usability improvements and other performance enhancements.
