Create your own online store with Google Docs and Google Checkout

Google Docs is an amazing piece of application. What started as a simple online word processor now lets you run online polls, create online surveys, create contact forms and what not. Recently Google unveiled a new Labs tool - the Google Checkout store gadget, which together with Google Docs spreadsheet, allows you to quickly and easily create an online store to sell your products.

Using new Spreadsheet Data APIs, we've integrated Google Docs and Google Checkout to make online selling a breeze. In three simple steps, you'll be able to create an online store that's powered by Google Checkout and has inventory managed and stored in a Google spreadsheet.

To use Google Checkout store gadget, you will require to sign-in with Google Checkout which is an online payment processing service similar to PayPal’s payment processing service which can be integrated with any website wishing to receive payments. All payments for your online store will be handled by Google Checkout.

Next you have to create a Google Doc spreadsheet and list the products you want to sale. This spreadsheet can then be converted into an HTML widget using the “Publish” options which can then be embedded on any website accepting HTML codes. The best thing about the Google Checkout store gadget is that it can be embedded into any website, including Google Blogger, iGoogle and Google Sites. No complicated coding is required and no need to install and configure shopping cart scripts. Now everybody can setup their online store and start selling. It’s so much easier and safer.
