Physical Storage vs. Digital Storage

Mozy, the online data backup service, has created a chart that documents how data storage technology has changed over the years, starting from “Wax Cylinders” of 1880s (I never heard about wax cylinders until today) to analog tapes and DVDs. Good research.

  4. Wax cyllinders were what Tomas Edison used to make the first sound recordings. He built a machine that took vibrations from a voice and shook a wire that was rubbing on to a spinning wax cyllinder.
