BuddyFuse integrates Google Talk and Twitter with Windows Live Messenger

BuddyFuse is an addon for Windows Live Messenger that integrates social networking sites and third party IM networks with MSN messenger. Currently it supports only Google Talk, Twitter and the Dutch social network Hyves. The developers plan to integrate other networks like Facebook, AIM, ICQ, XMPP etc in coming months.

After installation, log in to Messenger and you will see buttons for Google Talk, Twitter and Hyves. Click on the appropriate buttons to to add your Google and Twitter accounts into Live Messenger. You can now chat with your GTalk buddies and receive notifications for new Gmail messages the same way your receive them in GTalk.

The Twitter integration allows you to get updates from people you follow on Twitter, and also post tweets to your Twitter account right inside Windows Live Messenger.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that some IM network has supported third party networks. Instant messengers like Pidgin and Digsby have been doing this since inception. The difference is that with BuddyFuse you don’t have to switch IM programs to get these features. Although there is still a lot of work required, once social networks like Facebook and others are integrated this is going to be a rather popular Windows Live Messenger addon.
