Linus Torvald poses in front of Windows 7 stall

During the recently concluded 1st Annual Japan Linux Symposium held at Tokyo, Japan, Linus Torvald was seen posing in front of a Windows 7 promotional booth that Microsoft had setup - right across the street from the symposium’s conference center!

During a break, we decided to make some fun of Microsoft and dragged Linus over there. When we arrived there, Linus was sold immediately on the product as you can see in the picture. At least that's what the sales guy thought. He obviously had no idea who he was dealing with. But in the end Linus surprisingly did not buy a copy. Wise man!

The picture is epic, but the note underneath it carried a rather idiotic claim.

Microsoft tried to torpedo the success of the Japan Linux Symposium by launching their Windows 7 product that same day.

Wake up sheeple! Windows 7’s worldwide release date was announced months ago. I wouldn’t be surprised if Microsoft never heard of Japan Linux Symposium, until maybe a few weeks ago. This is their first conference after all.

  1. "Wake up sheeple!" LOL'ed! Linux fanatics are so bitter. Stop the bitterness, and move on.

Just improve Linux without relying on the weakness of your competitors to make Linux sell.
