Songr – Search and download music from the desktop

Songr is a free Windows program that allows you to search for music across 10 different music search engines simultaneously and play or download MP3s to your hard disk, all from within the small desktop program.

In the past we have seen other music download tools like Music MP3 Get and Songbeat which provides additional features like downloading cover art, lyrics, and even music libraries for organizing and tagging. Songr on the other hand is absolutely frill-less, which immediately appealed me. It’s sole purpose is to search and download music.

You can search music in Songr both by song title/artist and lyrics. It searches and aggregates the results from 10 MP3 search engines -

Songr provides you the direct download link for the MP3 files. It can also download HQ/HD YouTube videos and optionally extracts the audio track as mp3.

Songr sorts the results to display high quality mp3s on the top of the list, but you can sort it by name, size, duration , bitrate etc.

Be aware that most of the search engines Songr uses to retrieve results are by no means legit. If you want a legit music sharing software, the only one available is iMesh. But you can still use Songr to search and buy music from Amazon and Rhapsody.
