Boot your computer from ISO image with EasyBCD 2.0 beta

EasyBCD is a free software that provides an easy to use graphical frontend to the Windows Vista and 7 bootloader. EasyBCD makes it easier to set up, configure and tweak Windows boot entries, often useful on machines running multiple operating systems of like Windows, Linux and Mac.

The beta builds of the upcoming EasyBCD version 2.0, now supports booting a computer from bootable ISO images that reside on the hard drive, without burning them to a disk first. The new option can be found under “External devices” on the main program window.

Just select an ISO image, like that of a LInux Live CD and click on Create Entry to automatically add this option to Windows bootloader. You can then select this entry at the time of booting when you restart the computer.

Additionally, EasyBCD 2.0 beta can also PLop, a powerful boot manager that lets you boot a machine from hard disk, floppy, CD/DVD, network or from USB, even on computer whose BIOS don’t support it.

You can download EasyBCD 2.0 beta, but it requires you to register to their forums.

  1. Currently there is no need for registering for getting the 2.0 version since it got out of beta hence being the official version.
