Create your own Google Chrome theme with CRX Theme Creator

Want to change the look of your Google Chrome? There are lots of themes available for the browser, some of them official and many contributed by the community of users. You will find one that suits your taste. Or, if you have the time and patience, you can get your hands dirty and create your own from scratch.

CRX Theme Creator is a free Windows application that lets you customize every visual element of the browser. Design the various elements of Chrome in an image editing tool and save them as PNG images. Then using CRX Theme Creator, apply these images and the desired colors to the appropriate elements. A preview option is available that lets you see the results before building the theme.

CRX Theme Creator has an online version of the tool too. It offers you all the functionality that you get from the desktop version. Being online means you don’t have to download anything and it’s accessible from any where. To begin you will need at least 4 images for the frame, toolbar, tab background and page background. Upload the images, adjust the colors, tints, position etc and finally pack and download the theme.

To install the theme, drag and drop into Google Chrome.
