Desktop Embeddable Interactive Calendar

Interactive Calendar is a free customizable desktop calendar that integrates with your desktop wallpaper and keeps your upcoming appointments and events in front of you at all times, without the need to open another application window. You can add and edit items such as tasks, appointments and events directly from the desktop display or through the program’s configuration window. Interactive Calendar supports rich text notes, integrated spell checking as well as import and export of calendar data.

The calendar is completely interactive – double-clicking any of its cells will bring up a new task creation window where you can enter a task, include a start and end date and time. You can also add long-winded description to the task using a rich-text editor that puts Microsoft Word to shame. The built-in text editor supports addition of images, tables and links to local and web resources, letting you create well-structured documents that are easy to read.

If there are tasks already scheduled on that day, double-clicking on a cell will bring up the task management window.

If required, there is a search utility that you can use to search your tasks. You can list completed tasks but there is no option to view only uncompleted tasks or most recent tasks, the addition of which would have made sorting through calendars clogged with events and appointments a tad easier.

You can import tasks into the calendar from CSV and TXT files and export them to CSV, XML and the program’s own database format. The CSV files you can load in a spreadsheet program for further processing or analysis. Similarly, the XML exported calendar tasks can be easily imported into a database.

The program’s printing functionality allows you to print your calendars to mount them on walls as posters or keep them as table calendars. Calendars can be printed with or without tasks and background pictures. You can also simply print your task lists.

Interactive Calendar supports extensive visual customization options. You can customize everything to make sure it blends well with your desktop color scheme – from the position of the calendar on the screen to its size, color, transparency, font, shadows, cell spacing and a lot more. You can either choose from a number of pre-built themes are create your own by choosing background picture, color, transparency etc.

Interactive Calendar is free and compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7.
