The Big Fat List of Documentaries

Thousands of documentaries have been produced till date. A simple search for “documentaries” on Google brings hundreds of great results, among which are websites dedicated to documentaries such as Topdocumentary Films, Documentary Storm, Free Documentaries and Documentary Heaven that allow you to search and watch documentaries for free. Even more documentaries are available for viewing on YouTube, Netflix and elsewhere. But how do you find them?

DocuWiki is Internet’s biggest resource for documentary lovers. The website serves as an index of documentary films and series on the Edonkey Network, originating from many broadcasters including the BBC, PBS and more. The website lists nearly every documentary that has been produced, and sorted by subject, publisher, year of release, narrator, language etc. Each documentary is accompanied by a brief description of its content, posters and screenshots from the video. Because DocuWiki also provides links to download these documentaries via the file sharing network, some may view the website as endorsing piracy. Regardless, it’s still the best and the most resourceful encyclopedia of documentaries on the Internet today. The dedication and research that went into building the collection is unparalleled.

DocuWiki consist information about more than 6,000 documentaries. They are classified into 11 categories - Arts, Biography, Culture, Health-Medical, History, Nature, Science, Sociopolitical, Technology, Travel and War – each further classified into numerous sub-categories.

You can also browse for documentaries by name of the publisher, and the title of the show. For instance, BBC and PBS produces excellent documentaries under shows such as BBC Horizon and PBS Nova that are worth watching. If you have your favorite narrator, for instance, David Attenborough, you can find all documentaries that are narrated by him.

Once you have discovered a new documentary that you want to watch, search for the title of the documentary on any search engine and you will almost always find these shows streaming online on YouTube or on the publisher’s website.
