Jaipur (India) based startup has launched a new kind of service called SpyBubble that allows a person to log in from any computer and spy on calls and text messages from any smart phone or BlackBerry in real time, and even eavesdrop on conversation.
Sounds scary? It sure is. All you need to do is install the software on the cell phone you want to spy on and get it’s IMEI number. Then register an account on SpyBubble through which you will be able to monitor all that is going on the victim’s cell phone from your computer. Recently Motorola announced a similar kind of service, the iSIM which has to be wrapped around the SIM card to track and restrict calls. iSIM is yet to be launched; SpyBubble, on the other hand, is already available.
SpyBubble does the following:
- Call Tracking - see how many calls were made for each number, at what time they were made, and how long each call lasted. If the number is saved under a name in the phone's memory, you can see that too.
- SMS Tracking - read any message that was received by or sent from the phone. The messages are logged into your SpyBubble account as they are generated, so you can read them even if the recipient erases them from their phone memory.
- GPS Location Tracking - track the exact position of the phone using Google Maps.
- Remote Call Listening - you can select certain numbers to eavesdrop on. Whenever calls to these numbers are initiated from the tracking cell phone, you will be alerted by a text message on your mobile phone. If you call to the victim’s cell phone now, you will be able to listen to the call.
At present SpyBubble is available only on Blackberry and Android phones but support for Windows Mobile, Symbian and iPhone is coming and when they do it will encompass a majority of cell phones available today. The call and SMS log files are uploaded to SpyBubble only through the Internet, and hence the cell phone should be Internet enabled.
SpyBubble is targeting parents and snoopy partners, a demographic big enough for the service to sustain and even flourish. Privacy? What’s that?
