Ship Along Offers Amazon Filler Item Suggestions in Chrome to Avail Free Shipping

When shopping on Amazon.com you can save a reasonable amount of bucks if you pick up products that are eligible for Super Saver Shopping. Under this scheme, if the total value of your order exceeds $25 you are entitled to free shipping anywhere in the United States. Similar scheme exists for Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, Amazon Japan and other countries where the retail giant operates.

Often it so happens that the product you want to buy falls just shy of the $25 threshold. Shoppers then usually start looking for inexpensive items that they could put into their cart to tip the total order over $25 and thus get free shipping. These smaller items whose sole purpose is to cross the Super Saver Shopping threshold are termed as “Filler Items”.

There are many Amazon filler item services, but none of them integrates with the Amazon website. To use these services you have leave Amazon, enter the amount you need to reach the $25 mark and get a list of products which sells at prices equal to or higher than your entered value. You then click on an item to arrive at the product page on Amazon.

Ship Along is a new Amazon filler item finder service that has developed a Chrome extension that automatically suggests items of the exact value you require to qualify for free shipping.

When you add items to your cart and proceed to the checkout page, Amazon checks whether you qualify for Super Saver Shopping and if not, by how much. It then displays the amount on the top left of the page. Ship Along takes this amount and without any prompt from the user, checks Amazon for qualifying products. It then displays the results at the top of the page so that it is impossible to miss.

You can limit the searches to a specific category of your choice, but you cannot see more than three products. 3 product limitation is however not great and will fail to satisfy most shoppers, and I suspect people will end up going to another filler item search service to get more options. This is going to hurt Shop Along even though they run their own dedicated filler item finding website.
